A campaign by Crohn’s and Colitis UK calling for major travel hubs to update accessible toilet signage to reflect "invisible disabilities" has been backed by Newcastle airport and Belfast airport.

IBD Toilet Campaign

Travel with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) aims to highlight the stigma of “invisible disabilities” that people face when travelling.

The operation comes following the charity’s successful campaign which saw UK supermarkets such as Asda, Tesco and Waitrose swapping their disabled toilet signs for accessible signage.

The campaign urges people to act by sending an email to the bosses of UK airports, rail stations and service stations to ask for help in the adoption of additional accessible toilet signage, highlighting that not every disability is visible.
