Flight VS221 was the first plane to arrive at Hewanorra Airport and crew and passengers were greeted by the island’s minister for tourism, Ernest Hilaire.
The airline, which first started flying to Saint Lucia in 1999, will offer three weekly direct flights to the Caribbean island from Heathrow.
Hilaire, who presented the captain and crew with a commemorative plaque, said it was a "thrill to see the red and white livery of Virgin flying in once again".
"We want to thank Virgin Atlantic for their commitment to Saint Lucia and the region and look forward to welcoming new and returning passengers over the winter season" he added.
Virgin Atlantic said it will increase its UK marketing output this winter with trade and consumer advertising planned for the end of December, with a new winter campaign called ’Let Her In’, beginning 26 December to mid-February. This includes TV, OOH, digital, trade and social media advertising.
The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) is also working with 15 tour operators to provide offers to travellers from the main website. The authority will also participate in airline partner campaigns.
