Virgin Atlantic has expanded its partnership with mindfulness brand Headspace to offer a range of in-flight “sleepcasts” and other audible sleep aids to help passengers, pilots, crew and staff manage the stresses of travel and jetlag.
Launched last year, Sleep by Headspace is now available on Virgin’s flights, with its sleepcasts, sleep sounds and wind-downs specifically designed to create the ideal conditions for restful sleep.
Headspace’s sleepcasts are narrated by unique, soothing voices, guiding listeners though a range of different “dreamy” environments. The company has been a Virgin partner since 2011 when the airline first added guided meditation content to its in-flight entertainment programme.
Together, the two brands have created a series of videos featuring Virgin crew and pilots sharing their experiences of coping with overnight travel across multiple time zones.
“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Virgin Atlantic to address one of the most crucial roles in employee wellbeing and productivity: sleep,” said Dan Kessler, vice-president global business development at Headspace.
“We have already seen positive results such as an increase in focus and productivity by providing Headspace to the Virgin Atlantic pilots, crew and staff as they manage workplace stress and jetlag.
“We’re excited to provide Sleep and other Headspace mindfulness content to passengers as they go through the heavy summer travel season.”
Rebecca Creer, spas and styling manager customer at Virgin Atlantic, added: “We started using Headspace onboard our aircrafts over seven years ago, as we recognised the need and importance of this type of content, but since then the world has got busier and noisier.
“Caring for our customers and staff is always priority, and thanks to Sleep by Headspace we can now provide yet another tool to make their flights easier and help our customers feel less anxious and get better sleep in a simple and effective way.”
