Day, who has worked onboard Scarlet Lady as a learning and development professional for the past two years, will now take up the role of national training lead for the company.
He previously worked for Virgin Voyages’ sister airline Virgin Atlantic before swapping to the cruise line in 2019.
He said: "I am excited to take on the position of national training lead, helping more First Mates [agent partners] to understand what it means to set sail the Virgin way and deliver on our purpose to deliver an epic sea change for all."
On 26 August, the line announced it would be doubling the size of its UK sales team from four to eight.
Virgin’s associate vice president of international sales, Shane Riley, said the appointment demonstrates the commitment the company has to its agent partners.
"I’m delighted to welcome Luke to the team," he added. "His extensive knowledge of Virgin Voyages and his experience of learning and development will make him a big asset to the team.
"Luke will lead all aspects of First Mate training and already has some great plans up his sleeve."
