Since its inception in 2018, The Travel Village Group’s homeworking agency arm, The Holiday Village, has gone from strength to strength. This agency is not a stranger to celebrating success – including a glittering party to mark The Travel Village Group’s 65th anniversary in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom last year, but behind the scenes, 2024 has been a year of greater connection between its hardworking support team and its near 80-strong network of home-based agents.
The Holiday Village launched weekly Wednesday calls last year so agents can “drop in” with each other and their business support teams and “Network and Nosh” events at five locations last year meant agents made face-to-face contact with head office colleagues, fellow agents and supplier partners to build relationships. Customers are also benefitting from the agency’s focus on connection, with extended support hours during the week, emergency support available on Sundays and a WhatsApp line that means queries are quickly answered.
Training never stands still at The Holiday Village. After being inspired at the 2024 Clia Riverview conference in Amsterdam, the agency quickly got to work, using its relationships with supplier partners to roll out a six-month River Cruise Academy programme last September. Alongside intensive training, including encouragement to host their own events, agents can take the opportunity to bring river cruising to life with ship visits and educational trips onboard, meaning customers are in safe hands should they consider a river cruise booking.
Meanwhile, The Holiday Village is not one to shy away from sustainable travel, with not one, but two TTG Sustainable Travel Ambassadors leading the charge – acting head of marketing Jenny and travel agent Emma are on hand to equip any member of The Holiday Village Team to identify ethical suppliers and aid strategies for promoting responsible travelling. The agency has partnered with the National Trust to support their Plant A Tree initiative, both in donations and by getting their hands into the ground to help rangers plant trees in the Peak District. Charities benefit from this giving back ethos too, with the team taking on, among many fundraising efforts, a gruelling trek across 15 peaks in Wales to raise more than £2,000 for Reuben’s Retreat and a walk raising money for mental health charity Solace.
