The event will be held at the Savoy Palace Hotel in Funchal over 12-14 October. Delegates will also stay at the nearby Next by Savoy Signature hotel.
Registration will open early next year. The event will be jointly hosted by Visit Portugal and Visit Madeira.
In a video address played out as the 2025 convention in Calvia, Spain, came to a close on Wednesday (8 October), Eduardo Jesus, Madeira's regional secretary for tourism, environment and leisure, said the event would be a moment to "reinforce the key bonds that unite Madeira and the UK".
Jesus revealed 300,000 UK guests visited Madeira last year, accounting for more than two million overnight stays; he told delegates the figures underlined the relevance of the UK market to Madeira's tourism sector.
Celina Tavares, Visit Portugal's UK director, said it would be "a true honour" to welcome Abta and its delegates, hailing the convention "a very important travel industry event for the UK".
She reinforced the UK's status as "the number once source market for Portugal across all key metrics", telling delegates Portugal welcomed 2.5 million UK guests last year, who spend more than 10 million nights in the country.
This year, the figure so far runs to 5.8 million nights spread among 1.4 million visitors.
Tavares also revealed there would be exclusive post-convention tours to various regions of Portugal available to delegates.
Abta chief executive Mark Tanzer said: "While we’ve had the pleasure of holding the convention in other parts of Portugal – Lisbon in 2001 and the Azores in 2017 – this is the first time we’ll be heading to Madeira, for what promises to be a standout event.
"The island has such a diverse offering for UK holidaymakers – with something for all ages. The climate means it is a great place to visit all year-round. This makes it appealing to the UK market, particularly given more and more people are travelling throughout the seasons, not just in peak season.
"We’re pleased to be able to use the convention to celebrate and showcase all it has to offer."
