Duguid joined tailor-made specialist Kuoni in 2009 and progressed through several leadership roles, including Commercial Director.
He went on to head up Dertour stablemate Carrier as Managing Director for five years before returning to Kuoni as its MD in 2022, succeeding long-time Chief Executive Derek Jones.
During his spell as Kuoni boss, he oversaw the operator's December 2024 rebrand and repositioning, as well as a "major reorganisation" of the business and a restructure of its trade operation.
Speaking to TTG in March 2023, six months after he took over as Kuoni MD, Duguid described the post-Covid era as an opportunity for "innovation, not radical change".
Ben Boesch, joint Chief Executive of Dertour UK, will take a lead at Kuoni alongside his current role, working closely with Duguid until he leaves the business on 25 September.
Duguid said after 17 "rewarding years" with Kuoni and Dertour UK, the time was right for him "to move on and begin a new chapter".
"Leading Kuoni has been a privilege and I am proud of what we have achieved together," he said. "Over the past few years, we have rebranded Kuoni, repositioned it in the marketplace and reorganised the business, creating a clear path for the future."
Reflecting on his 17 years with Dertour, he added: "I feel this is the right moment for me personally to take some time out, travel, recharge, and reflect on what I would like the next chapter of my career to look like.
"I leave with enormous gratitude for the people I have worked alongside and confidence in the future of the business. For now, I am looking forward to enjoying some time exploring the world before considering what comes next.”
Boesch said: “Mark has brought tremendous energy and deep industry knowledge to every role he has held across the group. His leadership has had a lasting impact on both Carrier and Kuoni, and he has guided colleagues through periods of considerable change with clarity and commitment. We are grateful for everything he has contributed over the past 17 years and wish him every success for the future."
Boesch added Kuoni was continuing to evolve, and credited Duguid – who said it was his job to make Kuoni "more contemporary and relevant – for "creating a strong platform for the brand’s next phase of growth".
Late last year, Kuoni launched a new online platform for agents – Kuoni Connect – featuring a new AI-powered sales coach, as well as other resources and new ways to get in touch with the operator's trade team.
In May, it announced it was shutting its John Lewis concession stores and ending its 14-year association with the brand.
And then, just last week, Kuoni confirmed it was handing Head of Trade Partnerships Sarah Weetman an expanded role with oversight for retail, trade and a new team of Personal Travel Managers.
Adam Morris will assume day-to-day responsibility for Kuoni's trade operation.
