The move is a result of the line being forced to suspend its operations in the Middle East in the wake of the Iran war in late February.
Both Celestyal ships are currently stuck in the region unable to operate despite recent developments including progress towards a two-week ceasefire and "increased confidence that operations will resume as planned from May", the line said.
On the consultation process, a spokesperson for the line said: "These proposed changes represent a limited adjustment relative to the overall size of the business and are part of a measured response to external circumstances.
"Despite these changes, Celestyal remains in a good financial position, with continued support from its shareholders. The business continues to focus on disciplined cost management while maintaining its long-term strategic direction."
When will cruise lines return to the Middle East region?
The next planned departures are: 1 May 2026 on Celestyal Discovery and 2 May 2026 on Celestyal Journey. Discovery is currently docked in Dubai, while Journey is in Doha.
The spokesperson added: "Celestyal is committed to supporting affected employees through the consultation process and will continue to work closely with its partners and stakeholders during this period."
According to the BBC, high-stakes talks between the US and Iran to broker peace in the Middle East failed to deliver much progress over the weekend.
