MS Trollfjord will operate the new "signature" sailings between April 2027 and May 2028, which include the line's first "fjord-only" itinerary. All new itineraries will offer port stays of between nine and 15 hours, with captains empowered to adapt timings to increase the chance of wildlife encounters.
Hurtigruten chief executive Hedda Felin said the new offerings were "rooted in generations of local knowledge" and geared towards a clientele keen to "truly connect" with the places they visit, while the line claims one of the new additions is its "most immersive fjord voyage to date".
The itineraries include:
- The Inner Fjords Explorer: Hurtigruten's first fjord-only itinerary, this eight-day excursion departs Bergen and explores the "innermost part" of four western fjords
- The Arctic Circle Explorer: An eight-day roundtrip winter voyage from Tromsø, which provides the "ideal conditions" for witnessing the Northern Lights and an optional excursion to the North Cape
- The Arctic Line: A 12-day north or 11-day south winter sailing between Copenhagen and Tromsø, which traces the length of Norway's coast and spends a week beneath the auroral oval to maximise Northern Lights opportunities
All voyages include all-inclusive dining and drinks, daily talks from Hurtigruten's expedition team and a regional, coastal kitchen concept which sources dishes along the route.
Last year, Hurtigruten outlined plans for a community-led experience programme touching several Norwegian villages not frequented by other cruise ships to highlight how lines can offer a "more meaningful" tourism alternative.
The "Open Village" programme will see Hurtigruten directly contribute 250 Norwegian kroner (around £18) per guest to each community every time it visits.
Hurtigruten is also on the look out for a new UK sales director following James Howlett's recent departure.
