Abta has told TTG it is "urgently" seeking clarity from the CAA over the status of refund credit notes (RCNs).
Back in July, the CAA confirmed RCNs for Atol-protected bookings cancelled owing to coronavirus, issued between 10 March and 30 September, would benefit from Atol protection until 30 September 2021.
However, the CAA is yet to comment on whether the 30 September deadline has been been, or will be, extended, and whether RCNs issued as of Thursday (1 October) will continue to carry Atol protection.
TTG understands talks over the issue are ongoing within the CAA, and that an extension could tie-in with confirmation of September’s Atol renewals early next week.
An Abta spokesperson said: “We are speaking to the CAA about this as matter of urgency and will update members in due course.”
The CAA did not return TTG’s request for comment on Thursday with regards to the status of RCNs.
