G Adventures is planning to introduce another 25 Planeterra community tourism projects to its tours by 2020.
Planeterra is G Adventures’ non-profit partner, and the latest expansion will take the total number of projects up to 100 across the world.
It comes after G Adventures achieved its ’50 in five’ initiative, which was launched in 2015 with the goal of adding 50 projects to its existing 25 by 2020. The final five projects to be introduced are in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Hungary, Botswana and Kyrgyzstan.
Having achieved this target 18 months earlier than planned, the tour operator has launched Project 100 with 25 new Planeterra projects set to be announced later this year.
G Adventures founder Bruce Poon Tip said that giving back to local communities was “built into the company’s DNA”.
“For us to over-deliver on our promise to build 50 community tourism projects in five years, and to now commit to 100 projects by 2020, proves our laser-focus and determination to use the power of positive impact travel impact to change people’s lives.
“The transformative power of travel is most real when our travellers see first-hand the impact their travel choices have on others, so I’m proud that 90% of our trips will showcase this to our customers.”
G Adventures is the world's largest small-group adventure travel company, offering more than 700 tours in 100 different countries, and service levels to meet all tastes, ages and budgets.
