Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have launched a recruitment drive ahead of a 12% capacity increase next summer.
The budget airline and package operator plans to add 3,000 jobs in the UK and Europe. More than 2,000 of the new roles will be at the company’s nine UK bases, with 1,000 in ground operations and 1,000 cabin crew vacancies as well as 100 additional pilots.
The airline and operator will put more than 12 million seats on sale next summer, including some to the new destinations of Bourgas, Izmir and Chania. The brand will also recruit 500 ground operations staff in Spain and Portugal and more than 450 customer helper roles across Europe.
Another 300 staff will be recruited for Jet2holidays’ Resort Flight Check-in service that allows guests to drop their bags at their hotel before leaving for the airport. The service is now in more than 250 hotels in nine destinations and the new roles will be split among drivers, baggage loaders and customer helpers.
More details of the brands’ expansion will become clearer at the end of the month when it renews its Atol licence. Last October, the operator moved into the second biggest Atol-holder position, ahead of Thomas Cook. It has since increased its Atol licence again, moving from 2.9 million licensed seats to 3 million following the collapse of Monarch Group. Thomas Cook has remained static at 2.4 million.
Steve Heapy, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive, said: “This is our biggest ever recruitment drive, and once again demonstrates our commitment to investing in our customers and in people’s careers. The success of our award-winning business is down to the hard work of our fantastic colleagues, and we are looking forward to meeting passionate people to join our expanding team.”
