I was lucky enough to experience the new look of Beach Club, the latest of the hotels within famed south Florida resort The Boca Raton to undergo a revamp.
Following a $130 million makeover by Miami-based design firm Urban Robot Associates, Beach Club now boasts 196 rooms and 14 suites, five bars and restaurants as well as a private halfmile-long beach and three pools.
Rooms are divided into nine categories based on view offered, starting from the 420-square-foot Partial Lake View all the way up to the 1,025sqft Lanai Grand Suite. As the epitome of luxury, this suite features separate living and dining areas and a 400sqft terrace, fully-equipped with hammocks and loungers on a private deck.
The Grand Suite includes access to Top of the Tower, a private club on the 27th floor of the Tower – one of Beach Club’s sister hotels just a short water taxi ride away. In addition, guests have priority access to dining and activity reservations.
All Beach Club rooms are tastefully decorated with floor-to-ceiling windows, stylish furniture and Acqua di Parma toiletries. And as part of the do-over, Beach Club has revamped its most popular dining venue, Marisol and launched Onda, a new, adult-only, restaurant.
The reimagined Marisol features a new indoor-outdoor setting with a wider terrace as well as a debut menu crafted alongside Michelin-starred chef Johnny Spero; I highly recommend clients sample the cauliflower in a miso lebneh, as well as the shellfish tower and the roasted pepper muhammara.
Onda, on the other hand, draws inspiration from iconic coastal holiday spots, with each holiday season showcasing a specific destination.
This winter, Onda’s menu references the Dominican Republic and its breathtaking landscapes as it has been crafted in partnership with Adriano Venturini, executive chef at the Eden Roc Cap Cana – the only Relais & Chateaux hotel in the Dominican Republic. Here, the Caribbean shrimps and the chen chen – a typical Dominican cracked-corn risotto with seasonal sauteed vegetables and coconut milk – are a must-try.
When it comes to activities, this hotel has something to please most pursuits, from watersports and fitness classes to Game Loft, a space for teens and tweens. Guests can also jump on a 15-minute free ride onboard Sorbetto – a pink Fiat 500-inspired boat – to enjoy the serene atmosphere of Lake Boca.
Complimentary cruises are available on a first-come first-served basis and between 2.30pm and 5.30pm, Thursday through Monday. Your clients can also book Sorbetto trips of up to an hour between 10am and 1.30pm, with prices starting from $190.50.
Guests at Beach Club are welcome to enjoy food and beverage service by the sea, as well as an adult-only pool, a main pool and the Vilebrequin Cabana Club pool.
They will also have access to Beach Club’s sister properties – Tower, Yacht Club and Cloisters – where dozens more amenities, shops and eateries are available.
Guests can explore the harbourside hotels, stopping off for brunch at Sadelle’s – a New York dining institution with locations in Miami, Paris and Las Vegas. Here, French toast and the Sadelle’s Tower – an assortment of fish including smoked salmon and white fish served with tomato, cucumber, capers and a choice of bagels – are essentials to sample.
After brunch, guests can head to the Harborside Pool Club, where they can relax in one of 29 cabanas, float along a 450-foot floating river, or descend two water slides.
For me, Spa Palmera, The Boca Raton’s 50,000sqft spa inspired by the magnificence of Granada’s Alhambra, is the real jewel in the crown. Awarded five stars by Forbes Travel Guide two years in a row, Spa Palmera features a whopping 44 treatment rooms, private spa pool
and waterfall whirlpools.
A wide range of treatments includes the ritual bath – an hour-long treatment that starts with a steam room or sauna session followed by a soak in a luxury tub, a stimulating 50-jet shower, a warm water massage and, finally, a Jacuzzi session.
Rooms at Beach Club at The Boca Raton start at $1,090 per night. Tel: 00 18 55 874 65 51
