The Beaumont Mayfair has introduced a new policy that ensures commission payments are made directly to agents within 24 working hours of guest departure.
The luxury London hotel says that the decision, which comes into effect immediately, reflects its “focused commitment to ensuring that valued agency payments are prioritised daily.”
The time frame for agents to receive commissions varies widely depending on the supplier, but payments can often take between 30 and 60 days to process.
Commission payments at The Beaumont Mayfair are to be paid on new bookings only and will be made either between 24 hours of the guests’ departure, or the travel advisor’s submission of an invoice to the hotel.
The Beaumont Mayfair isn’t the first supplier to prioritise agent incentives. Riviera Travel announced in March that it would be paying advisors commission on previously exempt booking elements, such as upgrades and other ancillary services.
Crystal also revealed in January that once a booking is paid in full and within the 100% penalty period, commission for standard cruise bookings of up to 40 nights would be paid from 50 days prior to departure.
Meanwhile, Azure’s new homeworking agency confirmed in February that it would allow agents to keep “up to 100% of their commission.” This policy applies when selling specifically Azure holidays; agents pay a small administrative fee when booking other operators’ holidays.
Rates at The Beaumont Mayfair start from £600 for a Classic Room, or £1,564 for a Classic Suite, B&B.
