The Association of Women Travel Executives (AWTE) launched its Irish Chapter on Tuesday.
A total of 60 people attended a dinner and drinks reception in Dublin which was sponsored by Aer Lingus.
Despite its newness, the association already has 48 fully active members signed up while four events have been organised for the forthcoming year.
The launch occurred amid concerns that Ireland is lagging behind Europe when it comes to gender diversity, women comprise 15% of business boards in the country compared to the EU average of 23%.
AWTE chairwoman Debbee Dale said: “Exciting times for the AWTE and our new members in Ireland.
“Our committee in Ireland are amazing and very focused on delivering the very best development, networking and business connection opportunities to the members.
“They are Clare Dunne, Lorraine Quinn, Fiona Foster Niamh Waters and Yvonne Muldoon. It has been a real pleasure working with them to get this launch underway and now with the full support of the UK board there will be no stopping them.”
Aer Lingus director of sales Yvonne Muldoon added: “Aer Lingus is delighted to be headline sponsor of the AWTE in Ireland.
“We fully support the aims and objectives of the AWTE which is to promote and develop the careers of women in the travel industry through professional development programmes, business networking and diversity initiatives and seminars.”
