The Malaysia Airlines jet, which crashed over Ukraine last June was downed by a Russian-made Buk Missile, the Dutch Safety Board has said.
MH17 was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was shot down. All 298 people on board were killed.
The report criticized Ukrainian authorities for their failure to close the airspace in the eastern part of the country.
“None of the parties involved recognized the risk posed to overflying civil aircraft by the armed conflict in the eastern part of Ukraine.”
The identification of the specific missile system used came after more than a year of investigation.
Fragments found in the wreckage and the damage pattern all indicated that the rocket was launched by a Buk surface-to-air device.
