The move is part of a series of leadership changes at the consortium as it positions itself for its "next phase of growth".
Cross joined Gulf Air Holidays last year after the Bahrain-based airline announced plans to build a tour operation. As Europe Agency Sales Director, Cross supported the airline's push to launch to the UK trade. Cross will join TTNG on 1 June, bringing more than 14 years' travel industry experience in tour operating.
He will work closely with the existing commercial leadership team, including Commercial Director Katharina Peck whose leadership continues to be a key strength for the group.
While Vithaldas will reduce his operational involvement and step back from day-to-day commercial responsibilities to focus on the group's long-term growth plans, including acquisitions and wider strategic opportunities.
Chief Executive Gary Lewis said: "These changes reflect how our business is evolving and how we continue to bring our strengths together to deliver for our members and business partners.
"Vim has played an important role in shaping the business over many years and in his new role as Chief Strategy Officer, will continue to support the Group’s long-term strategic direction and growth ambitions."
He added: "With Lloyd joining us, and with the strength of the team already in place, we are well positioned for what comes next."
In addition, the cruise director role at TTNG has now finished which means John Wilson has now left the business.
"As we move into this next phase, I would like to thank John for his contribution during his time with us. He has supported the continued development of our cruise proposition, and we are grateful for the role he has played in our journey," Lewis explained.
Other senior leadership changes
Earlier this year, TTNG appointed its sales director Kai-Yin Knapp managing director of its homeworking division Independent Travel Experts (ITE) as part of a reshuffle of its senior leadership team.
Gary Gillespie took on a role which included running ITE but also had a group-wide focus, with oversight for products, platforms, and ongoing training and development – including the group's training academy and its digital assistant.
Elsewhere, Stephanie Slark was promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer, with oversight of membership services and operations across the group.
