Garrido joins Typically after a spell as Sales Director at Specialist Holidays Group, which owns Italy specialist Citalia.
His association with Citalia stretches back to when it was owned by Travelopia, where he was Head of Sales for six years.
He brings more than 30 years' industry experience to his new role with Typically, in which he will support the promotion of the operator's new Luxury Collection – as well as its core product.
Typically said Garrido’s "extensive expertise" in business development and sales made him the ideal fit for Typically.
Garrido's arrival at Typically comes after agent Jo Watts, who recently sold her agency Holidaze to Fred Olsen Travel, joined Typically to support agents in the south.
“Like many people in this industry, I’ve known Simon for years," said Typically's Managing Director Daniele Broccoli.
"For all that time, I’ve been aware of how well-known and well-liked he is, and for good reason – he’s not only a fantastic team player and businessman, but also a great guy all round.
"Looking ahead, I want to bring Typically to the next level and I know Simon’s wealth of experience, plus his credentials in the highest end of luxury travel, will be a brilliant asset.
"I’m thrilled that he’s onboard to guide us as we continue to refine what we offer, and bring even more trade partners into the Typically network."
Garrido added: "I’m a big admirer of the scope and ambition of Typically Holidays, which despite its name is anything but typical.
"After 40-plus years, this much-loved family business has built up an enviable reputation as a respected Italy specialist, and become a trusted partner for Spanish and Portuguese trips too.
"I know the extensive work that’s gone into creating its overall range, not least its recently-launched Luxury Collection. I’m looking forward to being part of the journey from here."
Typically launched its Luxury Collection last year, featuring a curated range of five-star properties – including boutique designer hotels – and experiences, as well as routes to join the Orient Express.
The trade-only operator was founded in 1984 and currently sells through around 2,000 trade partners.
