Collette will celebrate its centenary by recreating its first ever tour along the US east coast, Olivia Rook writes.
In 1918, Jack Collette bussed 14 travellers from Boston to Florida at $68.50 a head.
A century later, the tour operator the trip gave rise to is recreating the three-week adventure at the same price, with stops in New York, Washington DC, Jacksonville, Palm Beach and Miami.
The team will also make stops for charity meal packaging events, in partnership with Rise Against Hunger. These packages will provide meals to disadvantaged people around the world.
The charity events mark the end of Collette’s One Million Meals initiative, which was started in 2016 to help combat global hunger.
Collette chief executive Dan Sullivan Jr said: “We’re excited to recreate this journey as a special chance for travellers to really experience this tour from one hundred years ago and to give our guests the opportunity to give back to the community throughout the tour.”
