The Walt Disney Company is to donate $2.5 million worth of aid to help humanitarian relief work across Florida, the Caribbean and other areas struck by Hurricane Irma.
In a statement, Disney said the funds will help the recovery efforts of the American Red Cross, Unicef, Save the Children, and other non-profit organisations.
Irma - the most powerful Atlantic storm in a decade - caused devastation on a number of Caribbean islands after sweeping through the region leaving around 40 people dead.
The storm also claimed more than 24 lives in the US after hitting south-west Florida on as a category four hurricane before it eventually weakened into a tropical depression earlier this week.
Eligible donations from employees to organisations involved in the Hurricane Irma relief effort will be matched dollar for dollar by Disney.
During Irma Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line donated meals, provided storage for supplies and power-utility vehicles, donated bedding to shelters, and made rooms available to emergency services.
Disney said it would also be donating goods and services throughout the region as other needs are identified.
Robert Iger, chairman and chief executive said: “As millions of people now face the daunting challenge of putting their lives and communities back together in the wake of these historic hurricanes, they need our help.
“We’re donating $2.5 million to support relief and recovery efforts in response to Hurricane Irma.
“This is in addition to nearly $16 million we raised after Hurricane Harvey to help ensure storm victims have the support needed to recover and rebuild.”
