Prestige Holidays is planning to build on record turn-of-year Canada sales with a renewed trade engagement initiative featuring fams, roadshows and other agent-focused events.
The operator this week reported revenue for both January and February up more than 30% year-on-year – its best January since it launched its Canada programme in 2009.
This was followed up with an even stronger February performance.
“We couldn’t have done it without strong support from the trade, in particular, our travel agent partners,” said Denise Hunt, Prestige’s Canada tour operations director.
“We had the best January since we started our Canada programme in September 2009, yet this February has surpassed that.”
Hunn is the latest to hail Michael Portillo’s Great Canadian Railway Journeys on BBC2 for a further upturn in Canada interest and bookings, adding the operator’s marketing efforts and activities were impacting positively on demand.
“Our team has been working tirelessly to cope with the surge in bookings,” she said.
On Prestige’s commitment to the trade, Hunn added: “This year, we’re planning at least two agent fam trips and are currently finalising a number of roadshows and agent-focused events.”
Prestige recently appointed fellow Canada specialist First Class Holidays’ Jonathan’s Whiteley to a newly-created role of long-haul sales manager to bolster its trade team.
