Founded in 2014 by global sporting icon Cristiano Ronaldo and Manuel Campos Guallar, and owned by Mabel Hospitality, TATEL represents the essence of vibrant Spanish lifestyle, blending gastronomy, culture and entertainment. Following successful openings in Madrid, Ibiza, Dubai and Riyadh, the internationally acclaimed restaurant brand will open in St. George’s Bay, Malta, this summer, marking its debut on the island with a concept that combines elevated Mediterranean cuisine, live music and immersive hospitality.
Designed by Grace Design Studio, the 182-cover venue brings together Art Deco elegance and contemporary refinement. The interiors are defined by warm woods, rich textiles and statement lighting, creating a dynamic atmosphere that evolves from day to night. Key spaces include a column-lined dining room anchored by a dramatic chandelier, a lounge featuring a DJ booth and a bar finished in textured green ceramics, and an intimate private dining room designed for more secluded experiences. The waterfront terrace extends the concept outdoors, using natural materials and soft lighting to create a seamless connection with the coastal surroundings.
The culinary direction is led by Global Executive Chef Juan Antonio Medina, a leading figure in Spanish gastronomy whose background includes training at elBulli and leading the Michelin-starred A’Barra. The menu celebrates traditional Spanish recipes reinterpreted through modern techniques, with signature dishes such as Arroz TATEL served with slow-cooked beef ribs, Cinco Jotas 100% Ibérico acorn-fed ham and the brand’s award-winning cheesecake, Nuestra famosa tarta de queso. The experience is complemented by a curated beverage programme featuring a speakeasy-inspired cocktail list alongside an extensive wine selection showcasing both renowned Spanish producers and international labels.
The opening represents a major milestone for St. George’s Bay, which is rapidly emerging as one of the Mediterranean’s most dynamic lifestyle and dining destinations.
