Husain Al Hashmi, acting director of travel trade and market development, told TTG it was hoped to regain 2019 visitor numbers this year.
The emirate is running a two-day Abu Dhabi Showcase at Ascot, which it hopes to make an annual event for the trade.
“We hope the Showcase will help us pick up where we left off,” said Al Hashmi. “We had 13.3 million visitors in 2019 and we’re trying to get back to that.”
He said the UK was a top-five market for Abu Dhabi, and he was interested in talking to anyone wanting to sell Abu Dhabi.
“We are building towards our 2030 target of 23 million visitors announced before the pandemic; we have not changed that target.”
Al Hashmi said Abu Dhabi’s programme of e-learning would continue, together with joint marketing initiatives and agents’ fam trips.
Two fam trips are currently planned, one aimed at luxury sellers and another slanted towards family holidays.
The emirate will also shortly launch a Visit Abu Dhabi Summer Pass, with access to Louvre Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros. World and Yas Waterworld.
Available to purchase through Visit Abu Dhabi, the pass is around £130 for adults and £108 for children aged three to 17.
