The airline will increase its daily flights from Heathrow to the Finnish capital from two to three, while also adding services to Chicago, Krakow and Gdansk to the winter programme.
Connections to Lapland through Helsinki are also being boosted this winter through four daily flights to Rovaniemi, Ivalo and Kittila, as well as two daily services to Kuusamo.
Other moves will see Finnair introduce new long-haul routes from Stockholm to New York and Los Angeles. The carrier has previously announced flights from the Swedish capital to Miami, Phuket and Bangkok.
Finnair added that it planned to resume its route from Helsinki to Osaka in Japan in October with Nagoya to follow in February 2022. It will also start using a larger wide-body aircraft on services to Dubai.
Frequencies will be increased on several other European routes this winter including Amsterdam, Munich, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Paris.
Ole Orver, chief commercial officer at Finnair, said: “We are excited to be able to expand the breadth and depth of our network, enabling better connections for customers as travel continues to pick up.
“We are also re-introducing services to support a smooth and convenient travel experience. We opened our Helsinki Schengen lounge in August, and Finnair’s non-Schengen Lounge will open in early October.”
