Railbookers has become the latest operator to look to capitalise on booming demand for Japan with its first Japanese rail tours.
The specialist’s three new itineraries take in some of the country’s most iconic features such as its famous cherry blossom, Tokyo’s neon skyscrapers and Kyoto’s historic geisha district.
Trips also feature travel onboard Japan’s high-speed Shinkansen, or bullet train, as well as some of the country’s most scenic train journeys.
Overseas visitor numbers reached record levels last year, according to the latest figures from the Japan National Tourism Organization, with UK visitors up 7.6% to 334,000.
Japan will host the Rugby World Cup for the first time in September followed by the 2020 Olympic Games, turning the country into one of the world’s most sought-after destinations.
“I am delighted to introduce Japan to our range of destinations,” said Railbookers manager director Peter Traynor.
“These trips not only give customers the opportunity to explore the major cities, but many outlying regions as well.”
Railbookers’ three itineraries variously take in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Kanazawa, Matsumoto, Takayama, Hakone and Nara.
Its 14-day Best of Japan tour leads in from £4,029pp, including 13 nights’ accommodation, as well as some meals and various tickets, passes and sightseeing tours.
The operator’s nine-day Golden Route of Japan itinerary starts from £2,949pp, featuring eight nights’ accommodation and airport transfers.
Scenic Japan (11 days), meanwhile, leads in from £4,689pp and includes 10 nights’ accommodation, return flights and airport transfers.
All Railbookers’ holidays can be tailor-made and feature attractions that can be visited year-round.
