KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced a new route to Amsterdam from Cork airport.
There will be an extra 41,000 seats available to Amsterdam Schiphol airport from 30 March 2020 on the daily route.
It will be operated by a KLM subsidiary, KLM Cityhopper, using either Embraer 175 and Embraer 190 depending on the day of the week.
“I firmly believe that more choice is always good for the travelling public,” said Niall MacCarthy, managing director at Cork Airport.
This new KLM route is the latest Air France-KLM group’s expansion in Munster, following the announcement of a new route to Paris Charles de Gaulle in May 2018.
Pieter Elbers, president and chief executive of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, said he was pleased to announce Cork as KLM’s 93rd destination.
Now in its fourth consecutive year of growth, passenger numbers through Cork airport this year are expected to be up 8% on 2018.
This is Cork airport’s 11th new service announcement over the last year.
Brian Gallagher, Cork airport’s head of aviation and commercial business development, added: “We’re delighted to see the result of our hard work and incredible support of our business community and Tourism Ireland further increase the hub connectivity out of Cork airport.”
