Thailand is targeting the LGBT market with a new website and campaign under the Go Thai Be Free banner.
Tourism Authority of Thailand has worked with LGBT travel publication OutThere to develop the website, gothaibefree.com, which features new images and videos.
Uwern Jong, OutThere’s editor-in-chief, told TTG: “The new website features a new suite of imagery and video, showcasing experiential and luxury travel across both already popular holiday spots and emerging destinations in Thailand.
“The visual campaign features real couples, of different demographics, genders and ethnicities from the US, UK, Australia and the Philippines.”
As part of the launch, a new video has gone live on the website with four more set to be added “in due course”. A two-minute brand video was launched on Facebook and YouTube last weekend (January 26-27) and achieved nearly 100,000 views in two days.
“The website acts as an online inspiration portal for LGBT travellers interested in Thailand as a destination, featuring fresh stories each week covering the country’s vast geography, as well as urging visitors to “Discover your Thailand” providing ideas for those with specific travel interests such as wellness, romance and unique local experiences,” added Jong.
The new site also includes a dedicated hotels and resorts section featuring LGBT-welcoming properties, which have been “screened” by the Go Thai Be Free team to ensure they have “demonstrated their commitment to the LGBT community through training, marketing and operational diversity”.
