Holidaymakers travelling on one of Tucan Travel’s overland trips in Africa will no longer have to put up their own tents.
The Aito member has opted to remove all camping nights from its Worldwide Adventures itineraries in Africa for trips departing from February 2018.
Clients previously had to erect tents in locations such as the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, Etosha National Park and Sesriem in Namibia, but Tucan has decided that all accommodation will be provided in hotels, lodges and permanent tents.
Emma Campbell, Tucan’s Africa destination manager, said: “We are extremely excited to have been able to remove the nights spent camping on our Worldwide Adventures in Africa.”
Tucan has also added a night at Elephant Sands private conservancy in northern Botswana for tours through the southern African destination. Accommodation at the bush lodge is in permanent tents on stilts with bedding and hot water while the wildlife is allowed to roam free.
Elephant Sands is featured in Tucan’s 13-day Botswana and Namibia overland trip from Livingstone in Zambia to the Namibian capital Windhoek.
The trip is priced from £1,219pp, with a local payment of $400, and includes a sunset game cruise on the Chobe river, a day visit to the Okavango Delta and a game trip in Etosha National Park. Flights are not included in the price.
To celebrate the launch of Tucan’s 2018-19 brochures, the operator is offering a 15% discount on group tours for bookings made by the end of October.
