Tui UK has unveiled a series of bold new itineraries under Tui Tours aimed at over-50s travellers – a market it calls “energised adventurers”.
The operator launched the programme last night (25 September) at an event in London, saying the 70 new trips will take Tui into “totally new territory”.
Summer 2020 sees a 50% increase on the company’s tours offering compared with summer 2019, while winter has also been boosted by 24% compared with the same time last year.
Destinations for summer 2020 include Uzbekistan, Borneo and Albania, while Central and South America and also India are the focus of winter 2020.
Speaking at the event, Andrew Flintham, Tui UK and Ireland managing director, told TTG: “One of the main USPs of this [programme] is flexibility. Not only can [agents] tailor the holiday, but they have the core basic itinerary, which you’ll be able to add more activities to or you can have fewer activities.
“The tours will also be across 12 regional airports, which means your customers won’t need go all the way to Heathrow if they live in the north of England.”
Before the presentation of the Tui Tours programme took place, Flintham also paid tribute to Thomas Cook’s liquidation, saying: “Given the fact Thomas Cook invented the industry, this is an incredibly sad time for our [sector]. What most people don’t know is that our busineses are inexplicably intertwined – this is sad for all of us, and it’s worth saying this is a pivotal moment for us all.”
As part of the new tours, clients can expect to embark on excursions that include cooking local cuisine, wine-tasting sessions with winemakers and craft-making alongside local artisans.
Summer 2020 tours are now on sale.
