Crunch talks to avert a mass walkout by staff at Heathrow airport this summer will take place on Thursday (18 July).
The Unite union, which represents more than 4,000 workers at Heathrow, said it would engage “constructively and positively” in talks convened by government conciliation service Acas.
Unite is locked in dispute with Heathrow over a new pay deal for its members, with strike action planned for 26-27 July, 5-6 August and 23-24 August.
Airport security guards, engineers, passenger service operatives and passenger service drivers will strike if the talks fail to find a suitable compromise.
Unite regional coordinating officer Wayne King said: “Unite will be engaging positively and constructively in Acas talks. Strike action is always a last resort for our members.
“We hope through these talks we can secure a pay deal which better reflects the important contribution our members make to the smooth and safe running of the UK’s busiest airport.”
