Agents from the high street firm, based in South Shields, worked until midnight on Friday (26 November), from 5am to 10pm on Saturday (27 November) and throughout Sunday (28 November) to support affected clients, hotels and rail companies.
On Friday (26 November), the firm had seven customers stranded in Edinburgh after 84mph winds saw rail lines to Newcastle closed.
Agents advised the affected individuals that the rail companies had organised rail replacement coaches – but the A1 and other roads back to England were closed due to the high winds, so the customers found themselves with no way home.
At the final hour, Westoe managed to arrange hotel rooms in Edinburgh for the group for the night.
However, on Saturday (27 November), trains between Edinburgh and Newcastle were still cancelled and rail replacement coaches could not run – so the Westoe team arranged a private mini-coach to bring the customers home at no extra cost.
A spokesperson for the agency also described how they had three other bookings due to travel to Edinburgh on Saturday (27 November), but as there were no trains to Scotland they contacted the customers to cancel their bookings and provided a full refund.
"We also had customers in London and Manchester who we kept in touch with to advise them of changes to their train times," they added.
"It was an expensive weekend for us but it demonstrates to customers the value of booking a package."
