The crew of a City Cruises sightseeing boat helped to rescue a woman who fell into the Thames during yesterday’s terrorist attack in London.
Romanian tourist Andreea Cristea fell into the water when a terrorist drove a four-wheel-drive vehicle along Westminster Bridge’s pavement.
Staff onboard City Cruises’ Millennium Diamond boat spotted Cristea in the water.
Although they could not fish her out of the water themselves, the crew alerted a nearby fire service boat, which was able to get Cristea out of the Thames.
Kyle Haughton, City Cruises’ managing director, said: “City Cruises’ Millennium Diamond was in the area of the incident at the time and worked alongside London’s emergency services to support in the rescue efforts of a woman in the water.
“Once alerted by people on the bridge, the ship’s captain reacted fast on spotting her, he halted the boat in order to hold her out of the water and stop her from being carried any further by the current.
“The emergency services were called immediately and arrived within minutes to take over the rescue operation.
“On behalf of City Cruises, our thoughts are with the families of the victims of this incident.”
Cristea was treated by paramedics at a nearby pier before being taken to hospital where she is in a serious condition.
A US tourist Kurt Cochran was among the people killed in the attack on Westminster Bridge, alongside police officer PC Keith Palmer and college worker Aysha Frade. The attacker was also killed by police during the incident.
