Eurostar trains will not stop at its two stations in Kent until at least early 2023, the company has confirmed.
The rail operator has not served the stations of Ashford or Ebbsfleet since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020.
Eurostar had previously indicated that its trains could begin stopping in Kent again next year but now those hopes have been dashed.
“We can confirm that our Kent stations will remain closed throughout 2022,” said the train operator in a statement.
“As the business starts its recovery, we need to focus on core destinations where demand is highest. We will review the decision towards the end of next year.”
The move means that Eurostar, which secured a £250 million refinancing package in May 2021, will continue only serving St Pancras International station in central London.
