The UK Foreign Office has advised against all travel to Russia following the country’s invasion of Ukraine.
The FCDO said the move comes due to the lack of available flight options to return to the UK and the "increased volatility" in the Russian economy.
"If you are in Russia, you should be aware that it may not be possible to fly directly to the UK, or via EU countries, and should amend any travel plans accordingly," the FCDO added. "Check the latest information with your airline or travel provider.
"UK-based airlines face having to fly for longer to reach some destinations after they were banned from using Russian airspace for overflying."
On Sunday (27 February), the EU announced all Russian aircraft would be banned from operating in, or from entering, the EU’s airspace.
On 24 February, all Russian flights were barred from the UK as part of Boris Johnson’s package of sanctions against Russia.
In response, Russia banned UK airlines from landing in the country or entering its airspace, leading to UK-based airlines having to fly for longer to reach some destinations.
Finnair also cancelled all services to Asia, Moscow and Russia for one week on Monday (28 February).
