Intrepid Travel is celebrating the centenary of the US National Park Service this year with the launch of four new action-packed excursions.
A cycling tour of southern Utah, kayaking in Yellowstone, sailing off the Florida coast and hiking through California’s ancient sequoia trees make up a quartet of packages, which the operator said would promise travellers a taste of the American wilderness.
August will mark 100 years to the day since President Woodrow Wilson created the National Park Service.
Available from September, deals start from £1,140pp and include accommodation, ground transport, selected meals, activities and entry fees.
Among the offerings is a foray into Yellowstone, widely considered to be the world’s first designated National Park.
Michael Edwards, UK managing director of Intrepid Travel, said: “This is a great way for agents to capitalise on all the buzz around the 100th anniversary of American’s National Park Service. These trips are expeditionary in nature and will give your clients the chance to really get under the skin of America’s great National Parks.
“Rather than skimming the surface, we’re encouraging travellers to celebrate all the parks have to offer – whether that’s on foot, bike, kayak or boat – and have some serious adventure.”
