Two TTG 30 Under 30 alumni are hoping to raise £5,000 to assist communities devastated by savage wildfires in Greece, which have claimed more than 75 lives.
Fires started to spread on Sunday (July 23) down the Attica coast, east of Athens, engulfing the holiday village of Mati where dozens are understood to have died.
A state of emergency has been enforced, with Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras declaring three days of national mourning.
Greece’s fire authority confirmed on Wednesday morning (July 25) 79 people were now known to have died.
The wildfires are the worst to hit the country since August 2007 when flames gripped the southern Peloponnese peninsula, killing dozens.
Now, Guildford-based Party Hard Travel, founded by Nathan Cable and business partner Barry Moore, are hoping to do their bit to assist the country in its hour of need.
“Greece is a country close to our hearts and we are working with our local friends, partners and guests to pull together and help,” said the duo after launching a GoFundMe page to pay for medical treatment and supplies, and long-lasting food.
Party Hard is hoping to raise £5,000, and by 9am on Wednesday they had already taken £1,300.
“The Greek prime minister has called a state of emergency and has asked surrounding European countries to offer their services in order to tackle the blaze,” they added.
“We are trying to raise a minimum of £5,000 in order to purchase essential supplies for those affected by the wildfires - please be generous and donate as much as you can to these families who have lost everything. Even the smallest amount will help the residents of the region.”
