Princess Cruises has revealed its number of bookings to Alaska more than doubled following the return of fly-on-the wall TV series The Cruise.
The latest series of the ITV documentary ‘The Cruise: Voyage to Alaska’ achieved an average of 3.5 million viewers with a peak of 3.7 million during the programme and a 16% share of audience viewing when it hit screens last Thursday.
The show follows passengers and staff onboard Star Princess and is the fourth series to be filmed on a Princess ship.
Princess said the episode had helped create a “flurry of interest" from viewers.
Two further episodes of ‘The Cruise: Voyage To Alaska’ will air this Thursday and the following week at 8.30pm on ITV.
Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises’ vice president UK and Europe, said: "The Cruise continues to go from strength-to-strength and we’re thrilled with the response to the first Alaska episode and previous Mediterranean series.
“Alaska is a stunning setting for the documentary and has clearly captured the imagination of viewers. From the scenery to the wildlife to the welcoming locals it really is a very special location and we feel proud to be able to share our 50 years of Alaska experience with ITV viewers.”
