Thomas Cook has announced it will base an additional Airbus A321 at Gatwick airport from May.
The move will add an extra 140,000 flight-only and package holiday seats a year and take Cook’s Gatwick-based fleet to nine aircraft.
Turkey, Tunisia, the Canaries and the Balearics will be the main beneficiaries of the increased summer 2018 capacity.
The new flights, on sale now, will operate between May 24 and October 31 to Antalya, Dalaman, Enfidha, Palma, Tenerife and Menorca.
Christoph Debus, Cook chief airlines officer, said: “We’re very pleased to expand our Gatwick programme by 12% this summer.
“It means we can take more customers to some of our most popular short and mid-haul holiday destinations, including Turkey where we are seeing particularly strong demand, and Tunisia, which is proving very popular.”
Flights to Antalya and Dalaman start from £49.99, Palma, Tenerife and Menorca from £52.99 and Enfidha from £78.99.
It comes after Thomas Cook last year announced its return to Tunisia following the Sousse attack terror attack, and resumed flights last month.
