It comes after fellow Bourne Leisure brand Haven announced on Tuesday (12 May) all its parks would remain closed until 2 July.
Both Butlin’s and Warner Leisure are now working to the same timetable.
Butlin’s said following the latest government guidance on coronavirus and domestic travel, it was working through "what the proposed plans mean" for the iconic resort operator.
"We’re hopeful that we can open again in the not too distant future," said Butlin’s in a statement. "But in the meantime, we’re extending the closure of our resorts until the 2 July."
Those whose breaks have been affected can move their booking to later in the year, or push it back to 2021; make a decision to amend their booking at a later date with up to 12 months leeway; or request a refund.
Bookings are being addressed in date order, and Butlin’s has advised that owing to restrictions on working practises arising from Covid-19, it may take "a little longer" to work through the backlog.
"We have been able to help the majority of guests affected to date, either to find a new break in the future or process a refund," said Butlin’s.
"We know this is a worrying time for our guests who fall outside of our cancellation period, which is why we’ve launched a new guarantee for all guests who have an existing booking with us."
Butlin’s Coronavirus Book With Confidence Guarantee allows customers to move their breaks, or cancel them and request a full refund. Guests are asked to wait until at least 28 days before their arrival date before getting in touch to discuss their booking.
Warner Leisure Hotels, meanwhile, has postponed all breaks at all Warner hotels up to 2 July. Guests booked to travel up to this date should not travel to their Warner property.
Guests who did not cancel before 19 March have had the full value of their break moved to a holding account and now have two options: rebook and receive an added value voucher – £100 for breaks of three nights or more, £50 for two-night breaks and £25 for single-night breaks – per room, based on two sharing; or claim a full refund.
All breaks from 3 July are currently going ahead as planned, but Warner has pledged to review the situation and government guidance continuously.
