Strong overseas growth has seen Travel Counsellors climb a Sunday Times league for international businesses.
The agency has climbed six places in the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 and now sits at 164th.
Travel Counsellors has 600 staff in overseas operations in Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, Australia, and the UAE plus more than 1,000 home-based Travel Counsellors running their own businesses across the UK.
The company’s Total Transaction Value for the financial year ended October 31 2016 was £447 million, of which 25% is now generated outside the UK.
International growth has outstripped domestic, with group turnover increasing 63% over the past three years and growth in international operations increasing by 86% during the same period.
The Sunday Times league table ranks companies with the fastest-growing global sales, measured over their latest two years of available accounts, with minimum total sales of £25m and international sales of at least £1m.
Travel Counsellors chief executive Steve Byrne said: “We are thrilled to be recognised for the sixth time for our rapid growth overseas.
“We attribute the continued success of the business to our model that puts the care for our people at the heart of everything we do, and uses technology to enhance the personal relationships and exceptional service our Travel Counsellors provide to their loyal customer base.
"This is why our model has really been embraced by the international markets we have expanded into, with our international presence also benefiting our Travel Counsellors and their customers by building on our global buying power, local knowledge and enabling true 24/7 support.”
He added: “Over the past 12 months we have invested £4.2m in our global technology, including the launch of our own customer app and the continued development of our in-house booking system, Phenix.”
