Capella Sydney will be housed in the heritage-listed former Department of Education building, which dates to 1912 and occupies an entire city block. It is encircled by Loftus, Bridge and Young Streets and is close to Sydney’s commercial and arts and cultural districts.
The hotel will offer 192 rooms and suites, all featuring high ceilings and a neutral colour palette. Bathrooms consist of double vanities and rain showers, and most also include deep standalone bathtubs.
The ground level will house multiple food and beverage offerings, including the Brasserie 1930 restaurant and McRae Bar, alongside six meeting and conference rooms. An art installation will be showcased in the central atrium, suspended below a glass ceiling.
The wellness offering spans the Auriga Spa, a 20-metre swimming pool, a fitness centre and yoga platform.
The Capella Hotels and Resorts collection currently includes properties in Singapore, Ubud, Bangkok, Hanoi, Shanghai and Hainan, and future openings are planned in Japan, the Maldives and South Korea.
