The popular holiday island of Crete has been rocked by a 5.3 magnitude earthquake.
The quake struck at about 7.40am local time (5.40am UK time) near the capital of Heraklion.
Greece’s Institute of Geodynamics confirmed the tremor.
Eyewitnesses reported shaking for several seconds, although there are no reports of injuries or significant damage according to several Greek news outlets.
Several tourists took to social media following the quake. Martin Smith told The Mirror the shaking was “pretty noticeable and alarming”.
The tremor came less than a fortnight after Greek capital Athens was struck by an earthquake and several aftershocks, which brought down several buildings.
