The bomb, which was reportedly discovered at around 4am on Friday (7 March) by construction workers on the tracks near the suburb of Seine-Saint-Denis, has now been defused.
Before that happened Eurostar axed services throughout the whole of Friday, impacting both the London-Paris, Paris-London line as well as Brussels-Paris and Paris-Brussels lines.
“Due to the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb near Paris Gare du Nord, rail traffic in and out of Paris is disrupted,” a Eurostar spokesperson said at the time.
“Please change your journey to a different date of travel. You can exchange your ticket for free to travel at a different time or date in the same travel class.”
The lines between London and Brussels, Brussels and Marne La Valle and London and Amsterdam continued to operate as normal.
The unexploded device also disrupted local trains as well as to the RER, the rapid transit system that serves Paris and the Ile de France region.
