More than one million passengers travelled through Southend airport in 2017.
The total of 1,095,914 was a new record and the second time the airport has broken the million mark since doing so in 2014, writes Ayla Soguksu.
It also represented a 25% increase on the 877,584 travellers using the airport in 2016 and comes as the airport offers 30 domestic and international routes.
Glyn Jones, the chief executive of Stobart Aviation which operates the airport, said the airport was hoping to introduce new routes this year that would allow customers to make connections to North America.
