Four Seasons has announced that it will open a new resort at the Jeju Shinhwa World development.
Jeju Shinhwa World is being billed as Jeju’s first “world-class integrated leisure and entertainment resort” and will open in phases, starting from late 2017.
Four Seasons Resort Jeju Island at Jeju Shinhwa World, will be the luxury hotel brand’s second property in South Korea – it already operates a hotel in the capital Seoul. No date has yet been revealed for the opening of the new Four Seasons property.
The Jeju property will offer 240 rooms, suites and villas alongside several restaurants and bars, as well as a spa designed in the style of a traditional Korean teahouse. The hotel will also be able to cater for weddings and corporate events.
Allen Smith, chief executive of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, said: “Korea is an important market for luxury leisure and business travellers.
“We are pleased to be extending our presence with a new resort experience on Jeju Island to complement our urban property in Seoul.
“We look forward to working in partnership with them to create a world-class Four Seasons resort on Jeju island, offering yet another destination in Korea for local and international travellers.”
Jeju is home to some of Korea’s most spectacular natural attractions, including several Unesco-listed sites.
Jeju Shinhwa World will eventually combine several hotels offering more than 2,000 rooms with leisure, entertainment and gaming facilities, including a theme park, water park and a “destination” spa.
