British Airways is to offer Reykjavik and Prague from London City airport this winter, plus it will switch its Paris Orly route there from Heathrow.
Reykjavik and Prague are new destinations for the East London airport. Flights to the Icelandic capital will operate twice a week, with Prague six times a week. The launch of the Iceland service means flights to Granada will cease over the winter, resuming in March.
The Paris Orly service will mainly suit business travellers, as the airport is closer to the capital than Charles de Gaulle. BA will offer three flights a day on weekdays plus one a day at weekends. The airline will continue to fly to Charles de Gaulle from Heathrow.
Luke Hayhoe, BA’s general manager customer and commercial, said: “Paris and Prague are two great additions to our schedule at London City. Well timed flights and a quick and easy journey through the airport will give business customers another option to reach either capital city, which are of course also two of the most popular leisure destinations in Europe.
“Reykjavik is a leisure route, and gateway to some of the most dramatic scenery and skiing that Iceland has to offer.”
The changes will take place with the start of winter schedules on October 29 and mean that BA will offer 30 destinations from London City this winter.
One-way hand baggage only fares to Orly and Prague start from £49, with Reykjavik from £59.
