Craig Davidson will join Jet2holidays as general manager of its restructured trade sales team next month.
Davidson, who has been director of sales at the Holiday Malta Company since 2014, is due to take up his role on October 3.
His appointment comes in the wake of Jet2holidays and its budget-airline sister company, Jet2.com announcing operations at Birmingham and Stansted airports.
Reporting into head of trade Alan Cross, he will manage the package holiday specialist’s eight road-based sales executives, office sales support team and focus on trade sales strategy and marketing.
“Craig will be my right hand man working on our trade strategy and he will be crucial to implementing it,” said Cross.
Along with its sister company, low cost airline Jet2.com, the operator announced today (September 21) the launch of 21 destinations from Stansted airport for next summer.
The pair had previously announced the addition of 15 routes out of Birmingham airport in July.
To coincide with its expansion, Jet2holidays has also recruited Zoe Grkinic as a new sales executive dedicated to the Stansted region and
Chris Redfern as a sales executive for the Birmingham region as a means of forging trade ties in the areas.
“We didn’t have anyone for the Stansted catchment area or the Birmingham catchment area but now with Chris and Zoe joining the team we believe we’ve put that infrastructure in place to really reach out to agents and get them onboard,” said Cross.
“It’s all very well coming into an area, but if you don’t have the resources or the support mechanism in place to support it then you’re wasting your time,” he added.
