Thomson Airways’ new long-haul aircraft may feature a children’s play area following a suggestion from a four-year-old.
Amber Winters from Birmingham won a nationwide competition to become Thomson Airways’ first ever Child Ambassador. She was chosen for her suggestion to name the aircraft Pixie Dust and her idea to have a children’s area including beanbags and a reading corner at the back of the aircraft.
The airline said it would trial “some of Amber’s suggestions on-board”.
As part of the airline’s #NameOurPlane competition, Thomson Airways asked youngsters aged four to 11 to suggest a name for its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and to provide ideas on how it could make it better for children.
Amber was one of 10 finalists to attend a special Ambassador Day at Gatwick airport to put forward her child-friendly innovation ideas to a special panel of judges. The youngsters were also given a tour of the new aircraft with Thomson Airways pilot Stuart Gruber.
As a reward, Amber will jet off on the aircraft with her family to Thomson’s 5T Sensatori Resort Mexico during February half term.
