Flights to London City airport are being diverted this morning after the runway was closed in a protest by the Black Lives Matter UK movement.
All flights to the airport have been disrupted after nine protestors “locked themselves together” on the runway.
Black Lives Matter UK has confirmed to the BBC that it is responsible for the protest.
The airport has said it hoped to “resume operations as soon as possible” but said on Twitter this morning that the disruption was continuing.
Disruption continues due to protestors at LCY, police are on site. We apologise for inconvenience, check with airline for flight status.
