Lufthansa Group has signed a code-share deal with Cathay Pacific bringing better connections to Australasia for UK passengers connecting via Hong Kong.
From April 26, passengers connecting on Lufthansa, Swiss or Austrian Airlines’ flights to Hong Kong via Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich or Vienna will be able to seamlessly transfer to selected Cathay flights and check luggage through to the final destination.
The code-share applies to Cathay flights to Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns and Auckland. In return, Cathay passengers have access to 14 Lufthansa group destinations.
Ivan Chu, Cathay chief executive, said: “This new codeshare agreement will offer Cathay Pacific passengers enhanced connectivity to destinations in continental Europe through flights operated by Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian Airlines via our gateways in Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Zurich.
“At the same time, Lufthansa Group customers travelling from Europe to the south-west Pacific will have easier access to flights to Australia and New Zealand through our super hub in Hong Kong.”
